SCIENTIST (POSTDOC) IN STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY

Join the forefront of genome and transcriptome editing platform technologies by becoming a part of the Pausch Lab at LSC-EMBL Institute for Genome Editing Technologies at Vilnius University. We are currently offering a Postdoc opening at an internationally competitive pay rate. As a member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the development of novel nucleic acid editing technologies in a collaborative environment, working alongside our academic and industrial partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our highly interdisciplinary team to characterize and engineer cutting-edge nucleic acid editing technologies.

  • Lead planning and execution of structure determination experiments using cryo-EM.

  • Conduct biochemical and biophysical studies to comprehensively characterize the editors.

  • Employ structure-guided engineering approaches to optimize editing technologies.

  • Maintain detailed, well-organized, and timely documentation of experiments and data.

  • Effectively analyze and present data, while proficiently communicating research plans and timelines to the team.

  • Provide guidance and education to laboratory interns at B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. level.


Qualifications:

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related field.

  • Demonstrate expertise through scientific publications in protein purification, characterisation, and structure determination via cryo-EM.

  • Exhibit critical thinking with excellent written and communication skills, thriving in a collaborative and fast-paced multidisciplinary research environment.

JUNIOR SCIENTIST (PH.D.) IN GENOME EDITOR ENGINEERING, BIOCHEMISTRY

We are currently offering a Ph.D. opening at an attractive pay rate. As a member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the development of novel genome editing technologies in a collaborative environment, working alongside our academic colleagues from the Jones and Šikšnys laboratories at Vilnius University.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our highly interdisciplinary team to characterize and engineer cutting-edge nucleic acid editing technologies.

  • Conduct biochemical and biophysical studies to comprehensively characterize the editors.

  • Employ structure-guided engineering approaches to optimize editing technologies.

  • Maintain detailed, well-organized, and timely documentation of experiments and data.

Qualifications:

  • Possess an M.Sc. or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related field.

  • Exhibit an excellent academic record, complemented by a subject relevant thesis.

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of biochemistry and structural biology.

  • Display critical thinking skills, coupled with excellent written and communication abilities, thriving in a collaborative and multidisciplinary research setting.
